Iraq Passports G&D

Posted on Friday, October 11, 2013

Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has been contracted by the Republic of Iraq to produce and deliver the Iraqi passports for the next years.

These passports will be machine-readable and meet the requirements laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for international travel.

The first batch of identification documents will be handed over to the Republic of Iraq’s Ministry of the Interior before the end of this year (2013). The order also foresees the delivery of printers and printer accessories to personalise the passports.

All components of the machine-readable HIGHSEC passports are provided by G&D. Papierfabrik Louisenthal, a subsidiary of the Munich-based technology company, is contributing to the production of the 48-page identification documents by supplying the security paper complete with cylinder mold watermark.
