It’s been five years since the UK introduced their last passport design (countryside & weather). In early November 2015 HM Passport Office announced a new design (creative United Kingdom).
Regular updates in design and the introduction of new security features are necessary to combat counterfeit (illegal replication) and forgery (illegal alteration) attacks.
The UK Passport allows for visa free travel to 173 countries, more than any other international travel document. As such the passport is an attractive target for criminals.
In the upcoming issue of Product & Image Security Newsletter (Jan-Feb 2015), we are carrying a special feature on this initiative together with a number of hi-resolution images of the visa pages.
